Description:

Pre-Columbian, South Coast Peru, Nazca, ca. 100 to 400 CE. A fine set of matched ceramic bowls with highly-burnished surfaces and a cream-slipped ground. Each bowl rests upon a round but stable base with tall walls that form its basin. Four inverted sun discs radiate downward from the brown-lipped rim along the exterior of each vessel with bodies shaped from concentric red and brown semicircles. Size of largest (taller): 5.8" W x 2.625" H (14.7 cm x 6.7 cm).

  • Condition: Shorter bowl professionally repaired from multiple large pieces with light restoration, resurfacing, and overpainting along break lines. Both vessels have small nicks to rim, body, and base, with light fading to original pigmentation. Nice mineral deposits throughout.
