Description:

Ancient Western Asia, northwestern shores of the Caspian Sea, Dagestan region, ca. 1500 to 500 BCE. A gathering of two cast-bronze anthropomorphic idols of a highly-abstracted form. Both figures stand atop knobby, delineated legs with emphasized hips and hold both arms up in the air, the male with a small phallus between the legs, and the female with impressed circular breasts. Each elongated head has bulging eyes, wide noses, large mouths, and domed brows. A fine ensemble covered in lustrous brown and green patina. Size of largest (male): 0.9" W x 1.8" H (2.3 cm x 4.6 cm); 2.1" H (5.3 cm) on included custom stand.
