Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A lovely gathering of two hand-built pottery figures from ancient West Mexico. The taller figure shows a seated maternal figure holding a child in her lap with bangle-adorned arms. The shorter figure perhaps represents a ball player given the padded waistband and helmet, and a conch shell horn is held to the mouth. The top of the head features a small slit that, when played, emits a high-pitched sound. Size of largest (mother & child): 3" W x 5" H (7.6 cm x 12.7 cm).
