Egypt, Late Dynastic to Romano-Egyptian Period, ca. 664 BCE to 2nd century CE. A gathering of 19 fragmentary leather pieces from ancient Egypt that were perhaps used as clothing components, accessories for personal effects, or utilitarian tasks. Included are 3 pieces of braided rope; 4 small strips and 4 large strips; 4 belt pieces with two bearing rounded ends; 1 braided tie with a panel; 1 knotted cord end; 1 circular panel perhaps used as a makeshift vessel lid or a garment patch; and an intricate tie with two thick sections. Custom display case included. Size of largest (large strip): 8.7" L x 1.375" W (22.1 cm x 3.5 cm); (display case): 12.25" L x 8.25" W (31.1 cm x 21 cm)

Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection, acquired in the 1990-2000
