Description:

Native American, United States, Archaic period, ca. 10000 to 3500 BCE (8000 to 1500 BP). A collection of 13 formed and pre-formed stone tool and projectile points from across the United States. The largest pre-forms are unfinished tools; the stone has been worked, but for unknown reasons the tool is unfinished. Often large, raw stones were chipped into smaller “pre-formed” pieces which were manageable to carry back to a settlement where they could finish the tool. Sometimes tools were started and then cast aside if there was a flaw in the stone. Several of the points appear finished and include Gary, Table Rock, Jakie, and Ouachita forms. Size of case: 11.8" L x 1.375" W x 8.75" H (30 cm x 3.5 cm x 22.2 cm); largest tool: 3.75" L x 2.675" W (9.5 cm x 6.8 cm)
