Description:

Roman, Eastern Empire, Holy Land, ca. 2nd to 4th century CE. A fine set of ten mold-formed pottery oil lamps with circular bases and projecting wick spouts. Seven lamps have discoid bodies and broad fill holes on top. One lamp has a corseted neck channel and a petite thumb rest. One greyware lamp has raised palm leaves on the sides of the neck. The largest lamp is cream-colored and bears only a wick spout on its bulbous body. Lucite display stands for photography purposes only. Size of largest (only wick spout): 4.3" L x 2.4" W (10.9 cm x 6.1 cm)

Provenance: private Dunn collection, Coral Springs, Florida, USA, acquired in the 1990s
