Far East, China, Qing dynasty, Xuan Tong reign, ca. 1908-1911 CE. A hand painted porcelain snuff bottle of a cylindrical shape with a rounded ruby red glass cap, depicting an amorous couple in a natural landscape - all in russet, green, and black against a white ground, with a blue and white floral pattern on the shoulder and neck and a blue line demarcating the bottom of the erotic scene. The vessel is marked on the base in blue with an inscription that translates "made during the Xuan Tong of the Qing Dynasty" - Xuan Tong was the reign name of Aisin-Gioro Puyi (also called Henry Puyi or Puyi), who was the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty. Size: 1.125" in diameter x 3" H (2.9 cm x 7.6 cm)
