Description:

Roman Britain, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A large, round, bronze bowl with round, bead-like handles set horizontally just below a slightly rolled rim. The bowl stands on a ringed base with three low, flat feet. This type of item would have been a hanging bowl, perhaps used over a fire. The material suggests that it belonged to someone wealthy. Size: 9.6" W x 3.9" H (24.4 cm x 9.9 cm)

Provenance: Ex- private collection of James Farmer, Maryland, collected from major galleries and auction houses between 1995 and 2005
