Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Oaxacan region, Mixtec, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A hand-carved and string-cut greenstone penate (pendant) of an anthropomorphic form, presenting stylized string-cut features such as coffee-bean shaped eyes, a triangular nose, angular limbs, incised fingers and toes upon the inherently attractive stone of sage green hues with white and russet inclusions. Further adorning the piece are a pair of copper earrings fitted through perforations. Custom stand. Size: 1-3/8"H not counting bale.
