Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 23 to 2.6 million years ago. A massive, fossilized tooth from a prehistoric megalodon shark - the largest fish or shark to ever exist - measuring 5.63 inches (14.3 cm) in length! Attached to the root are coral encrustations, attesting to years spent on the sea floor. Megalodon (Carcharodon megalodon, literally "big tooth") is thought to have become extinct about 2 million years ago, although alive and well in our imagination with movies like "The Meg" and the controversial film "Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives" (which presents like a documentary). Many swimmers today fear sharks and the average person can easily identify a shark tooth when they see one. It is clear why these ancient teeth inspire fear, awe, and fascination with both scientists and enthusiasts alike. Size: 5.63" L x 4.32" W (14.3 cm x 11 cm); 6" H (15.2 cm) on included custom stand.
