Description:

East Asia, China, Warring States period, ca. 475 to 221 BCE. A large storage vessel of a globular form comprised of buff gray pottery with impressed designs covering the curved exterior walls and shoulders of the body which resolves to a short neck and rolled rim. A special example with a mesmerizing array of impressed decorative patterns from this very early historical era. This vessel would have been inspired by a similar bronze item used to store food, but, because it is made of ceramic, it would have been an inexpensive facsimile made to be placed in the grave.

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full report will accompany purchase.
