Pre-Columbian, Central Coast Peru, Chancay, ca. 1000 CE. A fine textile weaver's basket composed of tightly-woven reeds in a rectangular form reinforced by interior lucite panels, including a gathering of original weaving tools. Among the tools are 45 wooden needles; 2 wooden needles with wooden spools; 19 wooden needles with pottery spindle whorls; 19 wooden needles with spools of thread; 23 wooden needles with pottery spindle whorls and spools of thread; 7 wooden thread separators; 14 full and 1 partial loose pottery spindle whorls; 2 textile bunches; 1 thread comb; and 1 hollow gourd flask. Size (basket): 17" L x 7.5" W x 5" H (43.2 cm x 19 cm x 12.7 cm).
