Description:

East Asia, Korea, Koryo (also Goryeo) Dynasty, ca. 12th to 13th century CE. A fine example of a leaded-bronze vase with a piriform body, a squat foot, a tall, corseted neck, and a flared rim. The exterior surfaces feature three gentle carinations that create an angular presentation, and faintly incised striations course around the shoulder, upper neck, and just inside the rim. Layers of mottled brown and green patina envelop the entire vessel in swaths of color. Included is a 20th century Japanese wooden box with black textile straps to securely shut the form-fitting lid. Size (vessel): 6.75" W x 12.1" H (17.1 cm x 30.7 cm); (box w/ lid): 8.875" L x 9.1" W x 14.125" H (22.5 cm x 23.1 cm x 35.9 cm)
