Description:

Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hollow-built pottery female figure seated upon a bulbous base with attenuated legs stretched out in front. Her portly abdomen and conical breasts allude to her femininity, and rounded shoulders trace inwards to a thick neck. Impressed coffee-bean-shaped eyes, an aquiline nose, pouty lips, and shell-adorned ears comprise her minimalist visage, and her elongated brow is capped with a simple headband. Applied red pigment embellishes her midsection, legs, arms, and head. A lovely example from the ancients of West Mexico. Size: 6.2" W x 8.6" H (15.7 cm x 21.8 cm).
