Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Jalisco, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A finely, hand built, bichrome female pottery figure, kneeling with legs folded beneath her body and feet sweetly delineated behind, her characteristically wide torso with pointy breasts and attenuated arms, and her elongated visage with horizontal slit eyes, an open subtly smiling mouth with two teeth delineated inside, adorned with large incised ear ornaments and a grand red-slipped headdress. The smooth surface finished in red slip with a cream hued face and wonderful areas of manganese deposits. Size: 7.25" W x 8.75" H (18.4 cm x 22.2 cm)
