Description:

Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca Etzatlan type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery figure of a hunchbacked male kneeling with thick thighs while holding his arms in a forgiving or performative manner. The man's raised head bears wonderful features such as puffy eyelids, a tall, slender nose, broad lips, a masculine jawline, and a slightly protruding brow beneath a layered cap. The prominent hunch protruding from the verso suggests the man is unable to move very quickly, and he carries a satchel around his torso. Size: 7.25" L x 8.2" W x 8.6" H (18.4 cm x 20.8 cm x 21.8 cm)
