Description:

Pre-Columbian, Western Mexico, Jalisco, Ameca Etzatlan type, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hunchbacked male figure, crouching and bent nearly double with a bulging spine, and head jutting forward with a wide eyed expression. It is highly probable that the large number of hunchback figurines found in ancient western Mexico indicates that these physical traits held a special interest or even social status due to their distinctive appearance. They might have been believed to possess supernatural abilities, making them well-suited for roles as shamans, sorcerers, or divine messengers. Size: 6.5" L x 6" W x 7" H (16.5 cm x 15.2 cm x 17.8 cm)
