Description:

Ancient Central Asia, Indus Valley, Harappan/Mohenjo-Daro civilization, ca. 2700 to 2000 BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery bowl with tall walls, a deep basin, and a thin, slightly flared rim, all atop a petite discoid foot. The exterior boasts a painted register of concentric zigzagging lines in hues of red and black, enclosed with two concentric stripes upon which rest the bases of yellow-painted step pyramids. The interior rim is painted with a solid dark-brown stripe, and all painted details are presented atop a pale-orange ground. Size: 4.2" W x 3" H (10.7 cm x 7.6 cm)

  • Condition: Repair and restoration to much of upper body with resurfacing, overpainting, and light earthen material over break lines. Minor nicks to rim, lower body, and base, with fading to areas of original pigmentation, and light abrasions. Nice earthen deposits and traces of original pigmentation throughout.
