Description:

Pre-Columbian, Peru, Inca, ca. 1100 to 1450 CE. Andean whistle vessels belong to a tradition that began in 1000 BCE, and they are still being made today. This double chambered vessel consists of two spouted bottles, one with a flared rim, while the other "blind" spouted vessel containing the whistle is topped with a flying bird. The two bottles are joined by a tube and a horizontal bridge handle. Around the shoulder of each vessel is a band containing stylized geometric motifs painted in a richly contrasting color palette of red, black, and cream. In addition to being classic Inca in its aesthetic, the vessel functions beautifully, producing a sweet birdsong! Size: 7.25" W x 5.875" H (18.4 cm x 14.9 cm)
