Description:

This unique Pre-Columbian Inca effigy dish, dating from the 15th to 16th century CE, is crafted in the stylized form of a bird with an elongated neck and a short, tab-like tail. The vessel is richly slipped in red with detailed white and black pigment accents, showcasing classic Inca artistry. Notably, the piece is repaired using an ancient technique: small holes were drilled along the break lines, and the two sections were rejoined with cord, preserving its form. While the age of the cords is uncertain, this repair method highlights the cultural emphasis on restoration. A remarkable piece exemplifying Inca ingenuity and artistic heritage.Size: 7.5" L x 6.3" Diameter x 2.75" H (19 cm x 16 cm x 7 cm)
