Africa, Eastern Nigeria, Cross River region, Anang peoples, later 20th century. A well executed face mask, finely carved and painted, depicting an expressive visage with a toothy grin, wide eyes with slits for the wearer, painted in bold yellow and black pigment with red and white detailing. A smaller female sits atop her head in a lovely pink dotted shirt.
