Description:

China, Ming Dynasty, ca. 17th century CE. An enormous blackware amphora created during the Ming Dynasty that manifests some elegant hare's fur patterning in the glaze. This effect is produced by a phase separation when the piece was cooling in the kiln and is absolutely unique to this vessel. Chinese blackwares sometimes display phase separation as iron-rich glazes are used and happily can create attractive oil-spot, teadust, and partridge feather glaze effects contributing to the uniqueness of each piece as no two wares have identical patterns. Size: 28" x 18" at widest. Provenance: Ex- Splendors of the World Gallery All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back. A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. #110347
