Native American, Southwestern United States, Hopi, Cochiti Pueblo, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE; Northeastern United States / Canada, Great Lakes region, Ojibwe / Winnebago, ca. 1920s. A collection of Native American and First Nations' baskets: a Hopi ring basket and a bark basket from the Great Lakes region. The ring basket is made from a willow rod shaped into a circle, with yucca twill plaiting and a strap handle. The other basket is made from black ash and spruce - the pointed rim and feet may symbolize porcupine quills. Size of ash basket: 10" Diameter x 4.25" H (25.4 cm x 10.8 cm)

  • Condition: Ring basket handle is torn at the center, and losses to tassels under rim, otherwise basket body is in good condition. Ash bark basket has fraying to projecting rim pieces, but otherwise intact and great condition.
