Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 2nd century BCE. A molded terracotta female standing in a dramatic pose with her right hand across her chest and her left held outward, her elegant figure draped with a flowing hooded robe, the folds of which cascade over her body. A wavy coiffure peaks from beneath her hood, framing her delicate facial features. A lovely example, possibly meant as a votive offering or a personal symbol of beauty and feminine strength in ancient Greece. Size: 8.25" H (21 cm)
