Description:

China, probably Warring States Period, 475 to 221 BCE. This is an interestingly shaped dagger blade with a prominent ridge and narrow gutters along the length of both sides of the ridge. I have dated this blade to this time period based on the fact that it is bronze; after this time, bronze weaponry becomes more rare, replaced by stronger iron/iron alloys. Size: 9.5" L x 1.5" W (24.1 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.

All items legal to buy/sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600, CHAPTER 14, and are guaranteed to be as described or your money back.

#112866

  • Condition: The tang has broken off, so this is just the blade. The patina is fine and has interesting variation of color; the shape of the rather unusual ridge pattern is clear.
