Description:

China, Warring States Period, 475 to 221 BCE. This is a beautiful example of a spearhead with remarkable heft and a beautiful multi-faceted patina. This was almost certainly a grave good for a high ranking nobleman. The shape is excellent, with a prominent blood ridge and a wide socket; the blade edge still retains some sharpness. As the name suggests, this spearhead was made during a time of great flux in Chinese society, when kingdoms and warlords traded land constantly, and finely made weapons such as this one were a sign of great prestige. Comes with custom stand. Size: 10.65" L x 1.2" W (27.1 cm x 3 cm)

Provenance: Ex-Estate of John Piscopo. Mr. Piscopo was one of the largest collectors of ancient weapons in the US with a collection that spanned all cultures, all ages.
