Description:

Ancient Near East, Holy Land, Islamic, ca. 12th to 14th century CE. A beautiful and wearable bronze ring cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) technique. The ring features a wide shank bearing crosshatch patterns flanked by segmented peripheries, and the ovoid face bears a pair of conjoined hemispherical cavities surrounded by incised Arabic script, perhaps giving the name of God. Great patina covers the entire ring. Size (ring): 1.125" W x 1.2" H (2.9 cm x 3 cm); (face): 0.9" L x 0.875" W (2.3 cm x 2.2 cm); US ring size 9.

Provenance: private East Coast, USA collection; ex-Madame Frances Artuner collection, Belgium, acquired in the 1960s
