Pre-Columbian, southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A petite hand amulet that is carved from dark green stone with faint beige inclusions. The hand exhibits a triangular form with rounded corners, and four string-cut grooves along the top are indicative of the spacing between each finger. Size: 1.2" W x 1.3" H (3 cm x 3.3 cm)

Provenance: ex-private collection of the late Father Bader, University of St. Thomas, Houston, Texas, USA; exhibited in the University of St. Thomas Art Gallery, acquired prior to 2000
