Africa, Sahara Desert region, Neolithic Period, ca. 9500 to 6500 BCE. A lovely celt of a tapering ovoid form, hand-carved from mottled beige-hued stone with russet, brown, and green inclusions. The points of each end are lightly rounded with a rough texture, and a pair of small pecked holes are centered atop the body. Most of the body exhibits a smooth, polished texture which is pleasing to the touch. Size: 2.25" W x 8.7" H (5.7 cm x 22.1 cm).
