Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 200 BCE. A lovely example of a hand-carved greenstone figure of abstract form standing atop a pair of delineated legs. Of mottled forest and sage green hues, the figure features several string-cut grooves that create the waistline, inward-facing arms, and large hands held atop each hip. The enlarged head features sizable eyes, a flush nose above slender lips, and sloping cheeks, all beneath a bulbous brow. Size: 1.7" W x 4.2" H (4.3 cm x 10.7 cm); 4.4" H (11.2 cm) on included custom stand.
