Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala, ca. 500 to 200 BCE. A lovely axe god figure carved from mottled light-brown stone with dark inclusions, perhaps andesite. The figure stands upon delineated string-cut legs and boasts a minimalist body with diagonal grooves denoting arms, a corseted neck, and a rectangular head with a plaeatued brow, string-cut lips, and tab-shaped ears. Size: 2.125" W x 6.2" H (5.4 cm x 15.7 cm).
