Ancient Near East, Holy Land, ca. 3rd to 5th century CE. A wonderful ensemble of ten mold-made terracotta oil lamps in a variety of styles typical of the ancient Near East. Three lamps have sloping shoulders with tab-shaped handles and cross designs in the neck channel; three lamps have curvaceous forms with stylized linear and circular designs encircling the fill holes; two lamps have saucer-shaped bodies with pronounced neck channels and raised-rim wick spouts; one lamp has a bulbous disc-shaped body with an applied loop handle and wide fill hole; and the last lamp has an ornately-designed base with a thick handle and circular designs around a wide fill hole. A fantastic grouping for any collection! Size of largest: 3.125" W x 1.25" H (7.9 cm x 3.2 cm)
