Description:

Magna Graecia, South Italy, Xenon, ca. 4th c. BCE. A fine ceramic drinking cup of a classic kylix form with a wide shallow bowl on a raised foot and twin upraised handles, the interior bowl adorned with a laurel wreath pattern encircling an elaborate star motif on the tondo, the same laurel leaf motif mirrored on the exterior walls - all via skillfully added peach-pink pigment on a lustrous black ground.
