Description:

Greece, Classical period, Western Empire, ca. 5th century BCE. A fine terracotta sculpture of a woman, possibly a goddess, of flat form shown standing with wing-like arms outstretched. Capped with a cylindrical headdress known as a polos that flares at its top, the ancient figure displays a tender visage consisting of sizable, almond-shaped eyes, an elegant nose, and a petite mouth held in a gentle smile, all flanked by a pair of gigantic, circular ear adornments. Remains of lovely white and red pigments highlight the elegant minimalist form of this gorgeous example from ancient Greece. Size: 4.25" W x 8.5" H (10.8 cm x 21.6 cm); 9.75" H (24.8 cm) on included custom stand.
