Description:

Greece, Hellenistic Period, ca. 3rd to 1st century BCE. A lovely mold-formed blackware pottery vessel with a raised program of palm leaves coursing across the exterior midsection. The broad, hemispherical vessel rests atop a tiered foot and a squat stem and bears a narrow register of downward tongues atop the foliate motifs. A thick, flared rim surrounds the deep basin to keep the vessel's contents safely within, and the entire composition is covered in matte black pigment. Size: 6.7" W x 4.9" H (17 cm x 12.4 cm)
