Greece, Ionian, ca. 5th century BCE. A lovely wheel made bichrome pottery vessel, the body of a wide, shallow form with a single strap handle, all on a raised, narrow foot. The tondo presents a central depression surrounded by a raised ring. The exterior walls are adorned with a band of upright and upside-down "V" shaped motifs, the upper rim lined in red, and a series of concentric red bands encircling the lower section to the foot. Red pigment also decorates the handle. Just lovely! Size: 5.75" W (handle to opposite end) x 1.875" H (14.6 cm x 4.8 cm)
