Ancient Greece, late Archaic to Classical period, ca. 6th to 4th century BCE. A stunning pair of 95.84 % gold (equivalent to 23K) earrings, each presenting a boat-shaped hollow body. The body begins with a narrow end pointing upward, widens to the center, then narrows to an end that boasts applied wirework spirals, intricate granulated patterns, and rings. The wire-like hook rises up from this end and curves back, tapering slightly to fit through the earlobe. These earrings showcase a warm patina and the exquisite mastery of ancient Greek goldsmiths.
