Description:

Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Early to Middle Bronze Age, ca. 2200 to 1700 BCE. A lovely highly-burnished ceramic flask with a round but stable base, a spherical body, an incised neckline, and a tubular spout with a flared rim and a pair of petite perforations for suspension. The body displays a polished red slip along the bottom half of the body with the remaining surface area colored in a faded black top. Linear and concentric circular motifs are incised into the exterior with rectangular areas of diagonal stripes undulating across the body's widest points. The black top and red body style is associated with the Vounous culture, after the large excavation of two cemeteries from the Early Bronze Age at that location. Size: 3" W x 4.75" H (7.6 cm x 12.1 cm).
