Description:

Greek Hellenistic period, ca. 2nd to 1st century BCE.  An absolutely beautiful piece of ancient glass with dark blue body, tall neck and everted rim, wound with opaque white trails tooled into a feather pattern around the body, double handled with a knob base. Threads of white, yellow, Bordeaux are drawn downward from the shoulder to the base with a few spiraling threads around the neck. This piece dates from the last great revival of core-forming in the first millennium which occurred in the second and first centuries BCE. Probably manufactured in the Syro-Palestinian region or the Levant generally.  Size: 4-3/4" H. Ref.
