Description:

Greece, Tanagra, Boeotia, ca. 450 BCE. A lovely and tall wheel-thrown pottery kantharos with finely-shaped strap handles, a deep interior bowl, and a wide, rounded foot atop a tall, thin leg. The interior and exterior surfaces boast faint areas of silvery iridescence which provide a nice chromatic complementarity to the jet-black glaze, a color probably intended to emulate a metallic surface. Size: 7.875" W x 8.125" H (20 cm x 20.6 cm).
