Greece, Athens, ca. 330 BCE. Terracotta handled vessel attributed to the LC Painter Group of Athens in the 4th century BCE. Side A depicts a Bacchic scene, with a satyr holding a large aryballos while the god Eros flys towards a standing woman. Eros is highlighted with added white pigment against his red figure background. Side B has two youths facing each other in a symposium, with the young man on the right handing a scroll to the man on the left. Black paint has developed a beautiful silvery iridescense. 12"H x 9-3/8"D. Provenance: Ex-G. Tsatsos Collection, Chicago, IL.
