Description:

Greece, Athens, ca. 4th Century BCE. Like most of you, our initial assumption was that this is Etruscan, 300 BCE - and a recent nearly identical example sold at Christies New York for $11,000. However, Dr. Florent Heintz at Sotheby's is convinced this is Greek Attic, Ca 4th century BCE. Either way, a fantastic example! Depicting the foot to above the ankle, naturalistically modelled, the toenails and knuckles delineated, the pinky toe curling slightly in, on an integral plinth conforming to the shape of the foot. 10"L Provenance: Ex-Private Chicago, IL Collection. Authenticity Guaranteed The starting price is the price at which the piece can sell.

  • Condition: Small losses to each side as shown, stable stress crack.
