Description:

Ancient Greece, Athens, ca. 5th century BCE. A sturdy example of a wheel-thrown pottery kylix with a squat circular foot, a broad, shallow basin with an overhanging lip, and a pair of parabolic handles that arch upwards near the apex. The entire vessel - save for the center of the foot - is enveloped with lustrous jet-black glaze that imbues the kylix with a dignified presentation. Size (w/ handles): 8.9" W x 2.125" H (22.6 cm x 5.4 cm)
