Description:

Greece, Attic period or slightly earlier, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A large blackware column-krater, with a body that bulges at the shoulder before tapering to an almost conical point before flaring outward into a wide, disc-shaped foot. The neck widens into a broad rim with column-like handles that project outward from the sides. This form is first known from late 7th century Corinth, and became popular amongst Athenian potters. Remaining black pigment on this example gives an idea of what the piece looked like when made. Size: 10.65" W x 12.45" H (27.1 cm x 31.6 cm)
