Description:

Greece, Archaic period, ca. 6th century BCE. A beautiful hair pin, made from cast bronze, capped by a finial of a graceful, abstract avian form, perhaps meant to represent a swan, with a long, gently curving neck and a large, flattened tail feather. Below that, the body of the pin is studded with two round, bead-like discs. The pin extends further, undecorated for approximately half its length. Imagine this beautiful pin being worn in a Greek woman's elaborate hairstyle! Size: 1.4" W x 4.25" H (3.6 cm x 10.8 cm); 4.75" H (12.1 cm) on included custom stand.
