Central Asia, north Indian subcontinent, Gandhara, ca. 300 BCE. A delightful terracotta relief of the head of a man, perhaps a prince, presenting an expressive countenance with an incised unibrow, huge, generously lidded eyes with delineated pupils, a round nose, full cheeks, a dimpled chin, and fleshy lips held in a warm smile. A jeweled tiara crowns his head, balancing a top a thick coiffure of coiled tresses. Size: 3.2" W x 3.6" H (8.1 cm x 9.1 cm); 5.3" H (13.5 cm) on included custom stand.

This piece has been tested using thermoluminescence (TL) analysis and has been found to be ancient and of the period stated. A full printed and bound report is available to the buyer upon request.
