Description:

William E. Freeman - also known as Bill Freeman (American, 1927-2012), Landscape with Pronghorns, oil on canvas, ca. mid 20th century CE. A beautiful landscape painting depicting five pronghorns promenading across the golden foothills of a majestic mountain range beyond which is painted in a gorgeous palette of mauve, violet, lavender, and periwinkle hues. The blue skies above cast a glow that suggests it is either dawn or dusk. Freeman's painting is executed in his signature style with sophisticated impasto and brushwork techniques. A wonderful view of the American West inhabited by some of our favorite animals. Did you know that Pronghorn antelope are the fasted hoofed animals in North America? They can reach speeds of as much as 60 miles per hour! Set in custom frame. Size: 23.5" W x 17.6" H (59.7 cm x 44.7 cm); (frame): 33.4" W x 27.6" H (84.8 cm x 70.1 cm)

Bill Freeman grew up in West Texas on a farm just outside of El Paso. Interestingly, he worked as a horse wrangler, fought forest fires for the U.S. Forest Service, and was a field researcher and guide for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for twelve years in Arizona, Wyoming, and New Mexico prior to becoming an artist. It was not until the age of 30 that Freeman decided to become an artist specializing in Western landscapes. Today he is considered a pioneer of Western art centered on such storied locales as Scottsdale, Arizona and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
