Description:

Ancient Seas, Middle Miocene to end of Pliocene eras, ca. 28 to 1.5 million years ago. Two huge fossilized teeth from the mighty prehistoric megalodon shark. The black tooth has been polished to pleasantly glassy surface with a lustrous gray along the edges and backside. The other tooth has a lightly serrated edge and the unpolished surface reveals the naturally reflective properties of the fossilized enamel. These teeth beautifully compliment each other with their differences in coloration. Megalodons were among the largest predators the ocean ever saw, but their teeth are the only parts that have survived since their cartilage bodies could not fossilize. Interestingly, medieval people believed that these strange teeth were moon rocks or dragon's tongues! Size of light grey tooth: 4.68" L x 3.31" W (11.9 cm x 8.4 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.
