Description:

Ancient Seas, Late Cretaceous, ca. 100.5 to 65.5 million years ago. A fascinating ammonite fossil, completely excavated from any surrounding stone matrix. This is a heteromorph ammonite in the Nostoceras genus, which does not have the usual spiral shell that most people associate ammonites with; the ribbed shell is irregularly coiled and bends back on itself, giving it a unique appearance. A clay base was added to stand the shell upright for display purposes. Size: 2.5" L x 2.25" W x 4" H (6.4 cm x 5.7 cm x 10.2 cm)
