East Africa, Madagascar, Jurassic to Cretaceous period, ca. 200 to 66 million years ago. A fossilized ammonite shell - with a spiralized form and a recessed central whorl - that has been fully excavated from the sediment displaying hues of umber and sienna brown. The exterior surface has been professionally prepared and polished, and scattered areas display wondrous rainbow-hued iridescence. Size: 1.7" L x 8.25" W x 6.8" H (4.3 cm x 21 cm x 17.3 cm); 10.375" H (26.4 cm) on included custom stand.
